This master thesis explores Intuitiv design, aiming to support a user-friendly product. Would you like to part of a team working on Saab's Giraffe 1x Radar project, with opportunities to collaborate with various roles within the organization? Keep reading!
Background
Traditionally, military radar systems require long training for the customer’s operators and technicians. Large resources are also devoted to translation and management of extensive customer documentation. Giraffe 1X has been a success on the market in recent years. Behind these successes are a number of factors, including ease of assembly and handling. When the work now begins with the study of the next generation of this product, the user-friendliness of hardware management is an important aspect to facilitate further development.
The thesis aims to analyze today's design from a user perspective and develop design proposals to make the product more intuitive to use. Usability as well as technical implementability will be central to the work.
The focus of the work is intended to be the antenna unit, but entire system integrations such as the Compact Radar Module may become relevant in due course.
The work will be carried out with supervisors from system design and HFI (Human Factors Integration). There is also the opportunity to interview fitters, testers, trainers and maybe even users, although it can often be a little difficult in our industry. The work is suitable for 1-2 students. You are at the end of your technical university education or equivalent and are about to start your 30 credits degree project. We would like to see that the education has a focus on technical design or similar.
You will work with a team working with our Giraffe 1x Radar which is used both in land and seabased applications. You will work in a team of 5-8 engineers working on the development and integration of this system. It will have very practical moments mixed with theoretical.
The number of people working with Giraffe 1X is growing steadily. Most of the activities take place in Gothenburg, but visits to other locations within and outside Sweden may be relevant.
This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
